Our popular summer away-day lunch continues this year, again in Brighton.
For a whole generation, Gwyneth will forever be remembered as Mrs McCluskey, the headmistress in the long running children’s series Grange Hill. A calm, authoritative figure which so sadly lacks in schools of today! Her character was cleverly shown in a recent episode of Ashes To Ashes thanks to her recording some new dialogue on archive footage.
Gwyneth Powell has had an amazingly varied career in theatre, tv and film. Recently she was a regular in ITV soap opera Echo Beach (and it’s spin-off Moving Wallpaper), and during her 40-year career has also appeared in popular shows such as Z Cars, Father Brown, Play For Today, Dixon Of Dock Green, Emmerdale, Armchair Thriller, The Gentle Touch, Hetty Wainthrop Investigates, Peak Practise, A Touch Of Frost, Heartbeat, The Royal, Holby City and Doctors; along with recent films Back To The Secret Garden and Piccadilly Cowboy.
