Filming, incentives, tax breaks and investment funds in Malta
The Malta Film Commission was established in 2005. As well as assisting in the production of films in the country in terms of locations, skills, facility and talent; the film commission office also approves co-productions that may access tax and other financial incentives the country offers.
Currently there are tax rebates (up to 22% of spend) available, plus Tax Credits (18% VAT is refundable on services and goods for example), and Professional Investor Funds (PIFS) which are not subject to Maltese tax or Capital gains Tax.
