Distribution & Exhibition – A One Stop Shop For Smaller Films

Odeon and Sky Filmworks was formed last autumn as a partnership between Odeon Cinemas and Sky TV. The new distribution company aims to release up to six features a year. The films will go out theatrically through Odeon (and other cinema chains if there is demand) before being shown on Sky and being made available on DVD.

CEO Tony Miller, who was formerly an executive with Natural Nylon and J&M Entertainment, will act as the lynchpin between Odeon's booking team and Sky's acquisitions team in deciding which films get picked up for Filmworks. The company “will not be in the business for the multimillion-dollar blockbusters, but will be looking for smaller films that have slipped through the net, and that we think will appeal to Sky's audience and to Odeon's audience."
