Madeline Smith

Brighton Away-Day Lunch

Our popular summer away-day lunch continues this year, again in Brighton, with a very special guest, actress Madeline Smith.

Madeline first came to film prominence in 1970 with two Hammer productions – Taste The Blood Of Dracula and The Vampire Lovers – after a successful career in modelling. Other film roles swiftly followed: Tam Lin (directed by Roddy McDowell); The Magnificent Seven Deadly Sins; Up Pompei and Up The Front (both with Frankie Howerd) along with guest roles in tv series Doctor In The House, The Two Ronnies, The Persuaders and Jason King. Madeline then entered her busiest time in the business clocking up eleven films in two years, including: The Amazing Mr Blunden, Carry On Matron, The Love Ban, Take Me High (with Cliff Richard), Theatre of Blood (with Vincent Price) and as the sultry Italian spy, Miss Caruso, in the James Bond film Live And Let Die, before returning to the Hammer fold with Frankenstein And The Monster From Hell.

Madeline’s tv work has also seen her appear in some of the most successful shows of all time, ranging from Steptoe And Son to All Creatures Great And Small. She has worked with some of the true greats in the business, and looks forward to sharing a few anecdotes and memories with us today.

Date: Thursday August 17th 2006 12:15 for 1:00pm
