The fifth tv network and you
Jane Lighting was appointed as Five's Chief Executive in early February 2003 and officially joined the channel in April. Jane joined Five from Flextech, the pay TV business, whose portfolio includes the Living TV and Bravo channels. She began her career in 1976 with distribution business Crown Cassette Communications and subsequently worked at training film company Video Arts before creating marketing and sales company Minotaur International in 1995, helping to establish it as one of the most successful distribution companies in the UK. Minotaur was bought by Flextech, part of UK cable group Telewest, in 1999.
Five is now investing more in original programming (with an emphasis on comedy and drama) than ever before increasing their programme budget in real terms, from £190 million in 2005 to £202 million in 2006.
