Our popular summer away-day lunch
continues this year, again in Brighton, with a very special guest,
Joe Robinson. "Tiger Joe" as he was known when a professional
wrestler, made his film debut in Carol Reed's A Kid For Two Farthings
in 1955, opposite Diana Dors.
Often cast of the "strong man" in features, Joe also
worked on the other side of the camera as a stunt performer. His
other film roles include The Flesh Is Weak, Action Stations, Fighting
Mad, Sea Fury, The Two Faces Of Dr Jekyl, The Bulldog Breed, Carry
On Regardless, The Loneliness of The Long Distance Runner, and
Doctor In Distress.
In 1971, he was cast as villain Peter Franks in the James Bond adventure Diamonds Are Forever and most famously in the film, in a carefully orchestrated sequence in the confined space of an elevator, Joe brought a great tension to a fight he orchestrated with Sean Connery.
Joe has also starred in popular tv series such as The Saint and The Avengers.
He has also worked, with his brother, on Honor Blackman's book of Self Defence, run his own gym and remains active in the world of Keep Fit. Joe has many wonderful stories of his time in the business, and looks forward to sharing them in Brighton!
