Brighton Away Day Lunch With Raymond Allen &
Dora Bryan
21st
August 2003 , Old Ship Hotel, Brighton
Raymond Allen
Dora Bryan
Our second annual August away day
lunch was again held in Brighton and this time uur guest speaker
was writer Raymond Allen, who along with famously writing for Frankie
Howerd, created and wrote Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em.
Ray is a truly fascinating, funny and inspiring speaker.
As
an added bonus, we were fortunate to have Dora Bryan OBE with us
too. Dora lives in Brighton and when she heard about our lunch, was
keen to come along and share a few tales. After lunch, Dora took
the floor and had the assembled 53 guests in hysterics with her stories
and anecdotes.
Our main guest, Raymond Allen, then captivated the
audience with his story of how a struggling cleaner and occasional
gag writer got a lucky break with his first submitted sit-com script
to the BBC. It was, of course, Some Mothers.
It was a hugely enjoyable
afternoon, and one we plan to repeat in 2004!
