It is true to say there
has been a slight bias towards James Bond this year at TheLunch
Club. Our Evening With Richard Kiel in May, Roger Moore as our
November lunch guest and, on 20th November, four of Bond’s
most beautiful ladies joined us for a very special evening.
To a standing ovation, George took
to the stage to welcome the assembled and to introduce the four Bond
Girls: from Dr No and From Russia With Love, Eunice Gayson; from
The Man With The Golden Gun and Octopussy, Maud Adams; from Moonraker,
Lois Chiles; and from The Living Daylights, Maryam d’Abo.
Gareth asked questions for about 15 minutes before
opening up the floor to members and their guests. The Girls later
commented on how interesting they found the questions from the
floor, and how very much they enjoyed being a part of such an enjoyable
evening.
Supper and more wine was served, and on departure, guests
received a special “goodie bag” which
not only included signed photos of the four girls, but also one
of George Lazenby along with a copy of Time magazine (007 Special),
Total Film (007 Special), a James Bond Girls calendar, Collecting
007 magazine, postcards, flyers and more!
Our one slight grumble
was that the sound system wasn’t
brilliant at the venue, but hopefully it didn’t detract too
much from the night’s enjoyment.
